Sid at 70
It used to be a commonly held belief that older people in the UK were rather dull: they'd worked hard (maybe played hard too), but now they just watched day-time TV, played bowls and went to bingo; or, they were stuck in a retirement home, or small suburban bungalow - anyway, they would be sad and lonely...
I wanted to find someone who would challenge the stereotype. I was naughty, lied about my age on the SAGA website and found Sid. He was a gift: an interesting man who became a dear friend. He died last year. I miss him.
This is a small selection from a body of work I made about Sid.
